DeskMode - sit, stand, walk, cycle at the desk

Need a hand? Most questions are answered below. If not, email support@deskmode.app and we'll get back to you.

How do I start a timer?

Tap an activity tile on the Today screen. Tap the running tile again to stop, or tap a different tile to flip - switching never loses the time you just tracked.

How are calories estimated?

Using validated MET values from the Compendium of Physical Activities (Ainsworth et al., 2011): MET × your bodyweight × 1.05 × hours. Open "How calories are estimated" in Settings for the full breakdown.

Why ±20-30%?

Real energy burn varies with metabolism, fitness, posture, and even fidgeting - things no formula can see. DeskMode shows a defensible estimate and is honest about the spread rather than a falsely precise number.

Can I change units, or use Apple Health for my weight?

Yes. Settings lets you pick metric or imperial and turn on "Use Health weight" so estimates use your latest weight from Apple Health.

I don't have a treadmill or bike - can I hide those tiles?

Absolutely. Long-press a tile to edit your dashboard - remove, reorder, or add tiles. You can also change which tiles show (and their colours) in Customize.

Does it work on Apple Watch?

Yes - start, flip, pause and stop from your wrist. Sessions you log on the Watch sync to your iPhone automatically.

Can I switch modes from the lock screen?

Yes. While a timer runs, the Live Activity / Dynamic Island shows it and lets you switch modes without opening the app.

Is my data really private?

Yes. Your sessions, history and health data stay on your device - no tracking, no analytics. Only your subscription is processed by Apple and RevenueCat (anonymous purchase data). Export a JSON backup anytime from Settings. See our Privacy Policy.

Is there a subscription?

Yes. DeskMode Pro is a subscription: a 3-day free trial, then £1.99/month (or £14.99/year). Cancel anytime in your Apple subscription settings.

How do I back up or move my data?

Settings → Export JSON saves all your sessions and settings to a file. Import JSON reads it back on another device.
